How it works

1

Build your package

Pick the services you need and answer three questions about your activity. You see an estimated cost for year one straight away.

2

We review your request

We check your request against the eligibility rules and your country of residence, note anything that would not qualify, and pass your file to our partner in Tbilisi.

3

Our partner contacts you

Within one business day our partner in Tbilisi gets in touch, answers your questions and sends an engagement letter at their standard rate. You pay them directly.

4

Registration and follow-up

Registration takes one working day in person, ten to thirty days remotely. Monthly filings and renewals run through the same partner.

Who does not qualify for 1%

The Small Business Status is not automatic. Government Resolution No. 415 excludes a closed list of activities, and the Revenue Service reads it broadly. If any part of your work falls under it, the status can be withdrawn back to 1 January of that year, with 20% tax on net profit instead.

Excluded under Annex 4

Consultancy, management and marketing advice, tax and legal advice, audit, architecture, medical services, licensed activities, currency exchange, gambling, staffing, excise goods.

Taxed separately under Annex 5

Rental income (5% or 20%), capital gains, dividends, interest, royalties, gifts and salary. These do not end your 1% status, but they are never taxed at 1%.

Also worth knowing

Above 500,000 GEL turnover the rate is 3% for the rest of the year; the status ends after two consecutive years above the limit. Work performed outside Georgia may not count as Georgian-source income.

Who does what

LiteFormation is run by LiteTax, an emigration advisory with Dutch roots that works with founders from anywhere. We know how a structure abroad has to fit the country you leave, so we screen every request before it goes to our local partner.

Our partner is an independent advisory firm in Tbilisi. They register, open accounts, file permits and do the monthly accounting, and they invoice you directly at their standard rate. One contact for the whole execution.

Wherever you live now: a Georgian structure does not change where you are taxed until you have actually moved. The package builder tells you what that means for your country.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live in Georgia to register an IE?

No. Registration works remotely by power of attorney. Whether the 1% rate actually applies to you depends on where the work is performed and where you are tax resident. Registration alone does not make you a Georgian tax resident.

Do I need a work permit in 2026?

Since 1 March 2026 foreigners without permanent residence need a right to work to run a business in Georgia. Since 15 April 2026 (Law No. 1509) this does not apply if you only work for non-resident clients on activities outside Georgia. If you want a work residence permit, you do need it. Our partner documents which case applies to you for €290.

How long does a residence permit take?

Realistically 13 to 15 months from IE registration, because the permit requires turnover of 50,000 GEL per foreign person. Start-ups younger than three months can get a first permit of up to six months without that proof.

Can I open a bank account without travelling?

Our partner opens accounts by power of attorney. Banks apply their own KYC and can decline or ask for more documents; bank charges are separate from the service fee.

What does year one really cost?

For a remote IE with a personal bank account and monthly accounting, expect roughly €2,000 to €2,350 in service fees, plus state fees in GEL and the apostille in your home country. The package builder shows your own estimate.
